The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) will deploy multiple branches to ensure the safety of all patrons attending the five Caribbean Premier League (CPL) home matches, which start tomorrow, Wednesday, August 27th.
Speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday afternoon, ACP South/Central, Wayne Mystar, confirmed that several units will be deployed for the matches, including specialised units, traffic teams, crowd control personnel, and aerial surveillance to ensure a safe and orderly experience.
ACP Mystar, who is the designated Gold Commander for CPL 2025, assured that the TTPS has conducted a full risk assessment, preparing for scenarios such as public disturbances, medical emergencies, acts of terrorism, and traffic incidents.
He noted that officers will be stationed both inside and outside the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
ACP Mystar, however, urged patrons to arrive early, noting that gates will open three hours before each match to facilitate security checks and crowd movement.
He said there will also be limited parking for the public at the stadium on the northern side, adding that although there will be no wrecking, motorists will not be allowed to park on the shoulder of the highway or park indiscriminately.
He also pointed out that local traffic on the Tarouba Flyover will be rerouted after each match to prioritise stadium traffic flow out of the venue.
The Trinbago Knight Riders will play their first of five home games at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Wednesday – the opener being against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons from 7pm.
