The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is currently placing strong emphasis on road safety, with Inspector Michelle Lewis issuing a public reminder to motorists and pedestrians alike. She highlighted a concerning increase in road fatalities, particularly along the Eastern Main Road, urging all road users to exercise greater awareness and caution.
With the rainy season now underway, Inspector Lewis warned that wet roads combined with speeding can be deadly. She advised drivers to check their tyres regularly, reduce speed in wet conditions, and be especially mindful of vulnerable road users such as pedal cyclists.
The TTPS is encouraging everyone to play their part in making the roads safer. For emergencies, call 911 or 999. To report crime or suspicious activity, contact COP/DCOP at 736-TTPS (8877), the Anti-Crime Hotline at 555, or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS.
Drive carefully, stay alert, and help save lives.
