The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has endorsed the launch of
VerifyTT, a digital credentialing platform developed by the National Information
and Communication Technology Company Limited (iGovTT), as a significant
advancement in the country’s digital transformation agenda.
The official launch of VerifyTT took place on Wednesday 22 April 2026 at the Hyatt
Regency Hotel, bringing together key national and international stakeholders to
explore the platform’s role in strengthening the country’s Digital Public
Infrastructure.
Speaking on the initiative, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence and
Investigations, Natasha George, underscored the importance of the collaboration
between the TTPS and iGovTT.
“From an intelligence and investigative perspective, VerifyTT strengthens the
State’s capacity to authenticate identity, safeguard data integrity, and enhance
the reliability of information systems that support both operational policing and
broader public service delivery,” the Deputy Commissioner stated.
The VerifyTT platform facilitates the secure issuance, storage, and verification of
digital credentials, improving trust, efficiency, and accessibility in interactions
between citizens and public institutions.
A key operational benefit for the TTPS will be realised in the Certificate of
Character process, which has traditionally relied on manual systems. Through
integration with VerifyTT, the TTPS is advancing toward fully digitised application
and verification processes, reduced processing times, improved fraud detection,
and greater accessibility for citizens, including remote users.
The initiative is aligned with the Government’s strategic objective of establishing
a secure, efficient, and citizen-centric digital environment. It also supports a
broader transition toward data-driven policing, where accurate, real-time
information enhances decision-making, investigations, and national security
outcomes.
The partnership with iGovTT ensures that these advancements are supported by
resilient ICT infrastructure, strong data governance, and secure interoperability
across state systems, critical components for modern law enforcement.
For the TTPS, the adoption of VerifyTT will also strengthen investigative integrity,
improve operational efficiency, and reinforce public trust through increased
transparency and accountability.
At a national level, the initiative represents a firm commitment to building a
modern digital state capable of responding effectively to evolving security
challenges while supporting economic growth and innovation.
