TTT Limited Earns 25 CBU Media Award Nominations

TTT Limited has earned 25 nominations in various categories of the 36th Caribbean Broadcasting Union’s Media Awards.

The CBU officially announced the nominees at the launch of its 2025 Annual General Assembly (AGA) to be held from August 18th to the 20th in Barbados.

According to a release from the Caribbean Broadcasting Union, 551 entries were submitted across 61 categories by 30 media organisations from 11 countries and territories, along with one pan-regional entity. This, it said, marks a 13% increase in submissions compared to last year, showcasing the growing impact and diversity of Caribbean media.

Across the region, Greater Belize Media is in the lead with 103 nominations, followed closely by Jamaica’s RJRGLEANER Communications Group with 95.

According to Secretary General of the CBU Sonia Gill, Trinidad and Tobago is not too far from both islands.

“Third place overall was Trinidad and Tobago. It delivered the largest number of entrants, six organisations in total including two brand new participants in the competition – Trinidad Newsday and Climate Analytics. The Express Newspaper and CCN TV6, both members of the One Caribbean Media Group, together contributed the most from that jurisdiction with 39 nominations from print, television, and radio services. Next in line from the twin-island state was public broadcaster TTT Limited with 25 nominations.”

WESN Content Capital has 16 nominations, while the Guardian has 14.

The CBU said public engagement hit new heights in the People’s Choice Award, which focused on short-form digital content or reels across social media platforms. Trinidad and Tobago was among the five territories featured, with over 13,000 public votes cast across 24 entries.

Chairman of the Barbados Broadcasting Authority and Director of the National Transformation Initiative, Dr. Allyson Leacock, said participating media houses will be encouraged to make creativity the region’s reality.

“For over 50 years vibrant years, the Caribbean Broadcasting Union has been the voice the vision and the story teller of our islands spanning the Dutch, English, French and Spanish Caribbean but today our indigenous media must step into an even brighter spotlight becoming the driving force behind our creative industries and our Caribbean identity.”

The CBU Media Awards will be held on August 20th in Barbados.

Nominees are also being encouraged to stay in Barbados for Carifesta XV from August 22nd to 31st.
