TTT’s Glow In Motion 5K Brings Fitness, Fun And Community Together

TTT Limited hosted its inaugural 5K event on Saturday evening, putting a unique spin on the growing 5K trend with its “Glow in Motion” evening race that illuminated the streets of Port of Spain.

TTT Limited was the place to be on Saturday evening, as staff, families, viewers and supporters came together for a 5K built around fitness, fun and community.

For Acting CEO, Kimoy Thomas-Williams, it was about giving people a chance to unwind.

“On a regular, persons are so stressed so, we want to turn this into a party, and the idea is just for everybody to forget the stresses of the work week and just enjoy themselves fully.”

That sentiment was shared by participants, many of whom were tackling a 5K race for the very first time.

“Well, I’m feeling psyched, I mean. Everyone, could, you know, they want to do something, you know and feel better about it and I think the 5k is a kind of motivation. And you could see the amount of people here; they all want to have that achievement. This is my first 5k so I’m going to make sure I finish it.”

After a warm-up and music from Next 99.1FM DJs, the race got underway at 6:20pm, sending hundreds of runners through St. Clair and around the Queen’s Park Savannah.

Race marshals, police, guides and water stations supported participants along the route, while runners of all abilities pushed towards the finish.

For the CEO, the event ultimately delivered on its message of bringing people together.

“There were strangers on the road, if they’re passing, they were like, “Come on, come on, keep going!” There were even persons in their vehicles, you know, waiting for us to cross and they were like popping their horns and saying, ‘Keep running, keep running!’ So, it was really nice, it really brought people together, which was our theme.”

Beyond the race, a racers’ village offered sponsored goodies, contests, prizes and live entertainment – leaving participants already looking forward to next year.
