Two Arrested In San Fernando For Possession Of Prohibited Weapon And Ammunition

Officers of the Southern Division arrested two persons and seized an AR-15 rifle along with several rounds of ammunition during two separate anti-crime exercises conducted in the San Fernando district on Tuesday November 4th, 2025.

Around 5:55pm, a team of officers including Ag/Sgt Seecharan, PC Marcus, PC Laloo, PC Adams, PC Hosein, and PC Ramsaroop were on operational duty when, they proceeded to a residence located at Latchoos Road, Debe based on intelligence information.

The officers entered the premises under the authority of Section 12 of the Emergency Powers Regulations and conducted a search, during which they discovered one AR-15 rifle containing twenty-three rounds of 5.56mm ammunition concealed inside a speaker box in a storeroom area.

The occupant of the premises, a 40-year-old female was cautioned, arrested, and subsequently conveyed to the San Fernando Police Station. She is expected to be formally charged for the offences of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Possession of Ammunition.

Earlier that same day, around 2:50pm, the same team of officers executed a similar operation at Tarouba Road, Marabella. Acting on intelligence information, the officers entered the premises under Section 12 of the Emergency Powers Regulations and conducted a search.

During the search, officers discovered three rounds of .45 calibre ammunition and one round of 5.56mm ammunition hidden inside a multi-coloured sneaker. The occupant, an 18-year-old of the said address, was arrested and taken to the San Fernando Police Station, where he is expected to be formally charged for Possession of Ammunition.

Investigations are ongoing.
