Police officers attached to the Arouca Police Station and the North Central Area Task Force responded swiftly to an incident of shooting with intent, resulting in the arrest of two suspects in connection with the matter.
Around 2:25pm on Tuesday October 7th, 2025, a 48-year-old man was walking along Bertie Road, Five Rivers, Arouca, on his way to his garden, when he encountered a silver Nissan AD Wagon driven by a man known to him. The victim, feeling threatened, reportedly pointed his licensed air rifle at the vehicle before stepping aside. The vehicle subsequently veered into a nearby drain. The driver, allegedly exited the vehicle and issued verbal threats before leaving the scene.
A short while later, the victim reported that the driver returned to his residence accompanied by his brother, who was allegedly armed with a firearm, along with a group of other men. The assailants reportedly forced open the door of the victim’s home. The victim stated that both men pointed a firearm at him, and he heard two loud explosions, one from each suspect before they fled the scene.
Acting promptly on the report of the incident, officers from the Arouca Chargeroom and the North Central Area Task Force conducted investigations which led to the arrest of two male suspects ages 31 and 34, both of Bertie Road, Five Rivers, Arouca.
Investigations are continuing.
