The Unity of the People has cancelled their plans to contest the Debe South Bye-election. Leader of the party Nickocy Phillips told TTT News on Monday, two candidates were selected, however one is in quarantine and the other is exhibiting flu-like symptoms. Phillips said as such they decided to withdraw their decision to contest this election. TTT News was informed by an Elections and Boundaries Commission official that the party had the option of informing the Returning Officer of the situation and the Commission would have sought legal advice to make a decision.
