The United States Embassy in Port of Spain has donated almost US$77,000 worth of canine equipment and training supplies to the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service to assist in the detection of contraband at correctional facilities.
In addition, the assistance from the US Embassy also went towards commissioning a new birthing centre for dogs and newborn puppies at the kennel facility in Golden Grove, and the refurbishment of two canine transportation vehicles previously donated to the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service.
The donation of supplies is geared towards supporting the Prison Service’s working dog programme.
