The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) is proud to announce the conferment of honorary doctoral degrees on three distinguished individuals at its 2025 Presentation of Graduates Ceremony. In addition, the prestigious title of Honorary Distinguished Fellow will be awarded to a cultural advocate.
The ceremony will take place on Tuesday November 18th, 2025, at the Lord Kitchener Auditorium,
National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA), Port of Spain at 10am.
This year, UTT will honour outstanding contributions in the fields of education, fashion, cultural advancement and law. The awardees are:
- Mr Peter Elias – Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts
- Mr Israel Rajah-Khan, S.C. – Honorary Doctor of Laws
- Mr Jamwant Maharaj – Honorary Doctor of Science
- Mr Gilman Figaro – Honorary Distinguished Fellow
UTT will also confer seven (7) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in the areas of Education, Entrepreneurship and Commercial Studies, and Health Administration.
This year’s graduation will celebrate approximately 1,500 graduands, who will receive undergraduate and postgraduate degrees across a wide range of disciplines, including Engineering, the Arts, Sport, Fashion, and other innovative programme areas.
The event will be presided over by Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and Chancellor of The University of Trinidad and Tobago.
