Charity organisation United Way of Jamaica (UWJ) has promised to distribute a $100 million donation from JETS Limited in response to the Hurricane Melissa relief efforts this year.
In the organisation’s single largest contribution, the United Way of Jamaica will distribute a generous donation to six western schools, as well as other beneficiary organisations, on the island.
The eight beneficiaries to receive funding in the first tranche include Belmont Academy, St Elizabeth Technical High School, William Knibb Memorial High School, Hampton School, Black River High School, Manning’s School, Mustard Seed Communities, and the UWJ’s agricultural relief programme.
Chair of the board of directors for United Way of Jamaica, Dr. Devon Smith, lauded JETS for its contribution to national recovery and its efforts in ensuring the stability and resilience of Jamaica’s education system.
