Vandana Mohit Leads Community Planting Initiative

Food security and community farming were in focus in Chaguanas East this week, as Member of Parliament Vandana Mohit joined local farmers in Jerningham Junction for a hands-on planting exercise and seedling distribution drive.

In the heart of Jerningham Junction, farmers and community members came together for a hands-on push toward strengthening food security.

Pepper, peas and other crops were planted as part of an initiative aimed at boosting local food production and encouraging more households to grow what they eat.

MP for Chaguanas East Vandana Mohit says the exercise is about food security stronger community.

According to the MP, the seedling distribution forms part of a wider programme targeting both rural and urban farmers across the constituency.

She also commended farmers for their proactive approach to maintenance and development in the area.

The initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen agricultural resilience and promote household food production across Chaguanas East.

She says similar engagements will continue in other communities as part of the constituency’s broader development programme.
