Venezuelan National Charged With Murder

A foreign national is expected to appear before a High Court Master charged with the murder of a John Doe in San Fernando.

The accused, a 30-year-old unemployed Venezuelan national, was charged with murder following an incident on August 23rd, 2025.

According to police reports, officers of the San Fernando Police Station were on patrol in the district when they received a wireless transmission from the E999 Command Centre regarding a man who had been fatally stabbed on the compound of the National Insurance Board, Cross Crossing. Upon visiting
the scene, officers found the motionless body of a man of African descent. He was later pronounced dead by EMT personnel.

The suspect was later intercepted by a mobile patrol team a short distance away, at the Pavilion area in Skinner Park. He was found in possession of several items of interest and had a cut to his finger. Following an interview, Sgt. Harrypersad arrested the man and took him to the Princes Town Health Facility for medical treatment.

Further investigations, spearheaded by WPC La Rode of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (Region III), led to an audience with Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs. Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal, on 27th August, 2025.

Based on her advice, the suspect was charged with murder.

He was formally charged the same day and is scheduled to appear virtually before South Court ‘B’ on 28th August, 2025.
