Warriors Held By Grenada

It was a less than auspicious start to Trinidad and Tobago’s campaign to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup which will be hosted in Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

The Warriors were held to a 2-2 draw by Grenada in the opening match of the World Cup quest which was contested at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain in front of almost 9,000 fans.

It looked a less flattering result was in store for the host when Grenada got the opening item in the 24th minute from the penalty spot, courtesy Myles Hippolyte and even more so when Hippolyte doubled up four minutes later.

T&T would pull one back nearing half time through Ryan Telfer as Angus Eve and his men went in 2-1 down at the break.

They would come out a determined bunch on the resumption and got a well-deserved equaliser in the 74th minute through Reon Moore but despite sustained pressure there would be no further scoring as it ended in the stalemate.
