Minister of Public Utilities Barry Padarath says a decade of neglect by the former government left water treatment plants in disrepair but that era is coming to an end.
He told TTT News that WASA is experiencing challenges from Beetham to Cedros, and Central Trinidad is the hardest hit.
Minister Padarath said WASA now has a deadline to address the matter.
“I have given WASA a timeline of six months. They are going to make a capital investment to upgrade the Freeport Water Treatment Facility. That facility would put additional water into the grid and therefore will service those areas that are currently receiving a challenge.”
