The Water and Sewerage Authority has reported a series of thefts and acts of vandalism targeting its infrastructure in central Trinidad.
According to the Authority, between midnight and 4 a.m. on Friday, unknown individuals removed brass couplings from water service connections at 13 locations along Mt Pleasant Road, Carolina, Springvale, and Carolina Village.
WASA said the incident follows a similar case on March 26th, when five connections were vandalised along Tambu Road West in Springvale, Claxton Bay.
Those connections have since been repaired.
In response, WASA says it has increased security at key facilities, launched a dedicated hotline for reporting suspicious activity, and begun repair work to restore water supply to affected areas.
The Authority noted that damage to public infrastructure is a criminal offence and can result in fines or imprisonment.
It is urging members of the public to report suspicious activity as investigations continue.
