WASA To Shut Down Desalination Plant For Repairs

Thousands of residents in Point Fortin and environs are being advised of a planned shutdown of the Point Fortin Desalination Plant operated by Seven Seas Water (SSW) later this week.

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) says the facility will be shut down for mechanical repair work from 6am on Thursday, May 15th, to 2am on Friday, May 16th, 2025.

WASA advises that during this period, customers in areas such as Point Fortin; parts of Techier, Vance River and environs; Mahaica; Clifton Hill; Vessigny and TGU; and La Brea, up to the Pitch Lake, will be affected.

Customers are being told that following the completion of these works, it may take up to twenty-four (24) hours for the supply to normalise in some affected areas.

Affected customers can request truck-borne water service, but this will be limited. The request can be made through the Customer Portal, accessible on WASA’s website at www.wasa.gov.tt.

Alternatively, customers can also contact WASA’s Customer Call Centre toll-free at 800-4420/26.
