Weather Washes Out Senior Kings Semi Final at QPS, All 20 Advance To Dimanche Gras Final

Heavy rain brought the Semi Final round of the Senior Kings of Carnival competition at the Queen’s Park Savannah to an abrupt end on Wednesday night.

Just before midnight, House announcer Gemma Jordan informed the audience that worsening weather had made the stage unsafe, with heavy rain soaking and damaging several of the Kings’ costumes. As a result, all 20 competitors will advance directly to Sunday’s Dimanche Gras final.

At least five Kings were able to parade before the judges before the showers came down.

While the Kings were halted by the rain, all 20 Queens delivered their full portrayals on the Big Stage in the Semi Finals earlier in the night, with 10 securing places in Sunday’s final.

Thursday also brought the curtain down on the Junior Kings and Queens of Carnival competition.

This year, two Junior Kings will share the crown after reigning champion Antonio Rampersad tied with Jarel Peters for first place. Both earned 400 points for their individual portrayals.

Meanwhile, Jaemarie James claimed the 2026 Junior Queen title with an impressive 424 points. Zoey Walker followed closely with 421 points, while Annalee Rampersad completed the top three with 420 points.
