West Indies Women Fined After Slow Over Rate

The West Indies Women’s cricket team has been fined following their T20 opener against Australia in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Thursday.

Captain Hayley Matthews and her side were docked 10% of their match fees after finishing two overs short of the required over rate.

Match Referee Reon King ruled the side fell two overs short of their target, even after time allowances, triggering an ICC Code of Conduct sanction that cost players 5% of their match fee per over.

The result: a 10% fine across the squad.

Captain Hayley Matthews accepted responsibility and pleaded guilty to the charge, avoiding a formal hearing.

The offence was brought by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Jacquline Williams, third umpire Candace La Borde, and fourth umpire Maria Abbott.
