Construction of a world-class Trade and Convention Centre for the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA) could start as early as 2026 at the long-abandoned Caroni Racing Complex.
This was revealed by TTMA President Dale Parson as the Association held its Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony at the Hyatt Regency on Tuesday evening.
Mr. Parson outlined the strategic importance of the project, noting that the proposed Centre will provide a permanent platform for local manufacturers to showcase their products and forge regional partnerships.
“For the redevelopment and allocation of a small portion of land from the derelict Caroni Racing Complex for the construction and management of a world-class Trade and Convention Centre under the TTMA. This Government asset comprises just over 404 acres, partially developed since 1979, at a cost, so I am told, of over $240 million at the time. We look forward to commencing this landmark project in 2026. It will not only benefit the trade and export for Trinidad and Tobago, but will serve as a strategic platform for the Caribbean.”
Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism, Satyakama Maharaj, confirmed the news shared by the TTMA.
“The Government’s plans to redevelop the long-abandoned Caroni Racing Complex into a world-class convention centre demonstrate its commitment to supporting this manufacturing sector and promoting trade and investment. Once completed, this facility will provide a premier venue for the TTMA events, as well as other local and regional trade shows, forums, and networking activities across the manufacturing and business community.”
