Youngest TTMA President Backs Government Blueprint, Eyes Manufacturing Boost

“Performance beats ole talk”.

At 31 years old, Emil Ramkissoon is the youngest President elected by the membership of the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association and has made his mandate clear for the 70-year-old organisation.

During his maiden speech to stakeholders at the TTMA’s Leadership Discussion and Networking event at the Hyatt Regency hotel on Wednesday, Mr. Ramkissoon said his team will continue its advocacy.

“At the TTMA, we continue to lobby with the Ministry of Finance on these critical matters and have them resolved. Can we do more, and should we do more? Yes. And this is where, under my tenure, we’ll strategise. We’ll have to start thinking more outside the box, making sound recommendations based on evidence and positive research, and, as best as we can, inform you more on what is being done so there will be no element of doubt, rather full-fledged transparency in the way we lobby and advocate on your behalf.”

Mr. Ramkissoon affirmed the TTMA’s support of the Government’s Revitalisation Blueprint, noting that local manufacturers are well positioned to facilitate the new thrust.

“We stand in support of the government’s Revitalisation Blueprint project to enhance trade efficiency and diversification for Trinidad and Tobago that would sustain us being the number one facilitator in CARICOM. That being said, having our locally produced manufactured products in any construction, supply, and sustainable phases of the entire project would boost our manufacturers in the industry. I can assure you we have products that meet international standards.”
