20 Packs Of Cigarettes Intercepted At Maximum Security Prison

Officers from the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service have intercepted a package containing 20 packs of cigarettes, suspected to have been delivered by drone into the Maximum Security Prison.

The package was confiscated around 8am on Thursday by officers attached to the prison’s Security Department, acting on intelligence received.

Investigations are ongoing, with assistance from external law enforcement agencies, to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.

Acting Commissioner of Prisons Elvin Scanterbury commended the officers involved while raising concern about the continued use of technology, particularly drones, to smuggle prohibited items into the prison system.
