Rhythm, movement and cultural flair took centre stage on the second night of NALIS Latin Nights 6, as the Embassy of Colombia staged a lively Latin dance class that immersed participants in the energy and joy of Latin culture.
From the salsa rhythms of Cali to the cumbia traditions of Colombia’s Caribbean coast and the lively sounds of vallenato in the north, Colombia’s Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Sidney Bush Howard, highlighted the central role music plays in the nation’s cultural identity, noting that dance remains one of the most vibrant expressions of Colombia’s rich and diverse heritage.
“Colombia is a country with many faces, mountains, jungle, beaches but if there is one thing that unites us, it’s the music and dance.”
The embassy shared that culture with local salsa lovers by hosting the lively dance class on the second night of Latin Nights 6.
From beginners to seasoned dancers, everyone was encouraged to hit the floor and embrace the rhythm of the night.
Participants learnt popular dance moves while immersing themselves in the vibrant culture and traditions of the Latin American country.
The Latin-Ibero American Festival, hosted by the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS), runs from October 7th to 14th and will continue to showcase the rich traditions of Latin America through a series of cultural experiences led by participating countries.
