Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds, has commended the officers of the North Central Division of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service for the removal of 23 unlawfully-installed surveillance cameras.
In light of the recent revelation that CCTV cameras and associated equipment were illegally erected on T&TEC poles, Minister Hinds was asked in the House of Representatives on Monday to state whether an investigation was launched into this matter. He also said the TTPS is canvassing the communities to gather more information on the surveillance cameras.
With assistance from T&TEC, police officers removed 13 cameras from Monte Grande in Tunapuna, and 10 from Bassanta Trace in St. Augustine. The 23 confiscated cameras were later conveyed to the Tunapuna Police Station for further processing.
