The National Infrastructure Development Company Limited (NIDCO) advises the public that Carnival Runner, the water taxi which is out of operation, began taking on water sometime after 5 o’clock this morning.
In a press release sent out today, NIDCO stated that a team of officials from NIDCO, Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service, and the Penal Debe Regional Corporation are working on stabilising the vessel.
Based on the current operations, it is expected that the vessel will be stabilised before 1pm today.
NIDCO also stated that professional divers are also on site to carry out an underwater investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
The public will be provided with a further update once the investigation is completed.
