The Trinidad and Tobago Senior Men’s Football Team, which has been referred to as the “Soca Warriors” for almost two decades, is currently in search of a new name.
On Wednesday, the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) posted a poll on their social media platforms, inviting fans to provide suggestions for a new team name.
The development comes after the TTFA seemingly gave up on a long-standing legal battle with veteran sports broadcaster Selwyn Melville over the official trademark of the “Soca Warriors” name.
Melville originally coined the nickname while covering the team during a match against El Salvador in 1998.
The broadcaster, who is in possession of a trademark certificate, has been seeking compensation from the TTFA.
