Caribbean Telecommunications Experts Discuss Future Of Wireless Connectivity

The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) is hosting T&T Week of Spectrum 2026 from November 2nd to 6th, bringing together regional and international telecommunications experts, regulators and policymakers to discuss the future of wireless connectivity across the Caribbean.

TATT CEO Kurleigh Prescod explained the focus of the seminar, including spectrum management, satellite technology, regulatory readiness and preparations for the 2027 World Radiocommunication Conference.

“Over the next five days we will participate in three complementary engagements: access partnerships capacity-building workshop on satellite policy and regulatory readiness, the Caribbean Telecommunication Union’s Spectrum Management Task Force Meeting and a workshop from Welchman Keen on regulation to enable satellite connectivity.”

Participants will engage in industry consultations and training sessions aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and expanding digital connectivity.

Mr Prescod said the region’s telecommunications and connectivity goals can only be achieved through a collaborative Caribbean approach.

“At TATT, we recognise that technical capacity, sound regulation and regional cooperation must advance together. Our engineers need the expertise to assess emerging technologies, our policymakers and regulators need frameworks that support responsible innovation, and our countries need effective channels through which national priorities can inform regional and international decisions.”

TATT said the initiative will help Caribbean countries improve communications resilience, expand access to under-served communities, and ensure the region has a strong voice in shaping international telecommunications policies.
