Groundbreaking Win For Jereem Richards At Indoor Grand Prix

It was another groundbreaking performance in the career of Trinidad and Tobago sprinter Jereem “The Dream” Richards, this time at the 2026 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

Richards defeated reigning Olympic 100-meter champion and eight-time world champion Noah Lyles in a photo finish of the men’s 300-meter final in Boston, Massachusetts.

This past Saturday at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, the Trinidad and Tobago World Athletics Championship silver medalist had a massive opportunity in front of him when he went head-to-head with reigning Olympic 100-meter champion and eight-time world champion Noah Lyles in the men’s 300-meter final.

Richards, in lane six, took on Lyles in lane five, alongside fellow USA runners Vernon Norwood and Trayvon Bromell.

Richards made life tough for the world champion, taking an early lead. The Olympic champion thought he had come from behind to secure the win, but Richards had other ideas as he held on to win by one-hundredth of a second, clocking a time of 32.14 seconds, marking a monumental victory for the T&T native.

Following the groundbreaking result, the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Phillip Watts, via a social media post, extended heartfelt congratulations to Jereem Richards for his outstanding performance. The post added that Richards’ performance reflected the highest standard of excellence, discipline, and national pride.
