The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League is stepping up to the crease for fan health this season, rolling out free health screenings at all eight of its host venues across the region.
A free health-screening partnership between CPL, regional health authorities and non-governmental organisations will form part of the tournament’s ongoing fight against non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes and cancer.
Fans in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago will have access to blood pressure checks, glucose testing, BMI assessments, urinalysis and PSA testing, with health professionals stationed at venues throughout the season.
CPL CEO Pete Russell says early detection is key to combating these diseases and that the league’s regional reach comes with a responsibility to give back.
Organisers hope to make the programme a permanent fixture on the CPL calendar.
