In today’s world, food systems must be considered in conjunction with nature, climate systems, and biodiversity.
This is the belief of Scientific Group Chair of the UN Food Systems Summit 2021, Joachim von Braun, who said components of biodiversity, such as genetic and agri-biodiversity, are deteriorating.
Mr. Von Braun was speaking during an event which focussed on agri-food systems’ transformation in times of climate change and pandemics.
The objective of the event is to underscore the urgency of addressing food security, hunger, and poverty issues within the climate change, and will form part of a wider discussion during the Climate Change Conference, or COP26, in November this year.
