Anil Roberts Apologises To Senate

UNC Senator Anil Roberts has apologised to Senate President Christine Kangaloo and the Senate for statements he made earlier this year.

In March, Mr. Roberts was referred to the Privileges Committee by then Leader of Government Business, the late Franklin Khan, for allegedly calling the Senate President names and criticising her during his social media programme.

In the social media video, Senator Roberts used satirical subtext to allege that in the discharge of her duties as Presiding Officer, the President of the Senate was biased towards him.

In July, the Senate adopted a report on Senator Roberts recommending that he issue an apology in the Upper House.

During Tuesday’s sitting, Mr. Roberts issued his apology to the Senate President and entire House.
