Autopsy Confirms Strangulation In Death Of Municipal Police Officer Anuska Eversley

Autopsy results have revealed that Woman Police Constable Anuska Eversley died as a result of strangulation, accompanied by blunt force and sharp force traumatic injuries to the body.

This was confirmed by Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro at a TTPS Media Briefing on Monday.

He also stated that six men, ranging in age from 16 to 33, are currently in police custody in connection with the murder which took place at the San Fernando Municipal Police Station on Sunday.

Commissioner Guevarro said autopsy findings determined that WPC Eversley did not die from gunshot wounds, as initially suspected.

“The cause of death has been determined as strangulation accompanied by blunt force and sharp force traumatic injuries to the body. What was initially suspected to be a gunshot wound has now been clarified by the forensic pathologist’s findings.”

The Commissioner also revealed that police have made significant progress in recovering firearms and ammunition stolen from the station.

“One MPX submachine gun, one shotgun, one revolver, and 35 pistols. Additionally, 929 rounds of ammunition have been retrieved, comprising 900 9mm, 10 rounds of .38 calibre, and 10 shotgun cartridges.”

Commissioner Guevarro said immediate steps are being taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

“Immediate reforms are being introduced to strengthen firearm storage and ensure strict adherence to relevant policies and standing orders. Further interviews with Municipal Police colleagues of the deceased officer are ongoing, as investigators seek to determine any and all possibilities of accomplices.”

The Commissioner assured that the investigation remains a top priority and that the public will be kept updated as new information becomes available.
