It was back to school for thousands of children across Trinidad and Tobago, leading to a return to the nation’s weekday traffic woes.
While most parents and guardians parted company with their children outside school compounds on this first working day of the New Year with a brief peck on the cheek or a quick hug, others stayed in their vehicles craning their necks to ensure their charges made it into the school safely. The vehicles slowly leading to and from or parked, however briefly, outside schools across the country resulted in a build-up of traffic on many of the nation’s road ways.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education wished all students, educators, and their families a year of success, resilience, and meaningful achievements via its Facebook page.
According to the Ministry’s 2019/2020 Education Statistical Digest, there are more than 200,000 students attending this country’s Primary and Secondary Schools.
