CARPHA Confirms No Ebola Cases In The Region

The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) is reassuring the public that despite global concerns over Ebola, there are no cases recorded in the region.

Speaking at the Commissioning Ceremony of its Emergency Operation Centre on Friday, CARPHA’s Executive Director Dr Lisa Indar assured that surveillance is ongoing.

She said while the risk is currently low, CARPHA is prepared to respond if and when necessary.

“You know the Ebola threat we are monitoring and the only way it can come in is through an imported case but this is something we are monitoring. We don’t have Ebola, we don’t have Hantavirus, none of those things and the risks are low, but what is important is to rest assured that CARPHA is responding and monitoring that, and if there is ever a change we will let you know.”
