Fifteen Judiciary Staff Members Appointed As Justices Of The Peace (Ex Officio) And Commissioners Of Affidavit

Fifteen (15) members of the Judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago have officially received their Instruments of Appointment as Justices of the Peace (Ex Officio) and Commissioners of Affidavit during a ceremony held at the Waterfront Judicial Centre, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain.

The instruments were presented on Friday, July 3, 2026, by the Honourable Saddam Hosein, MP, Minister of Land and Legal Affairs and Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, in the presence of the Honourable Chief Justice, Mr Justice Ronnie Boodoosingh, and members of the Judiciary. The appointments were made by Her Excellency the President under section 4(1) of the Summary Courts Act, Chap. 4:20, on the advice of the Attorney General.

Minister Hosein emphasised the importance of the appointments in supporting the administration of justice and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to continued collaboration with the Judiciary.

Chief Justice Boodoosingh congratulated the appointees and encouraged them to perform their duties with integrity, diligence, understanding, compassion, patience and respect.

As Justices of the Peace (Ex Officio) and Commissioners of Affidavit, the appointees are authorised to perform specific statutory functions as part of their official duties. Their appointments strengthen the Judiciary’s capacity to deliver efficient, accessible and people-centred justice while supporting the effective administration of the courts.
