Diabetics on the CDAP programme can now breathe a sigh of relief as insulin will soon be available once again.
This, as the Ministry of Health has confirmed that the temporary shortage of insulin 70/30, which began in early June, has now been resolved.
According to a release by the Ministry of Health on July 15th, a shipment of 90,000 vials arrived on Tuesday, and distribution to public health facilities was set to begin immediately. They have also confirmed that another shipment is expected in August to further strengthen supplies.
Officials explained that the Ministry took steps to ensure 70/30 insulin supplies were quickly restored, noting that this shortage was caused by an international production and quality control delay.
The Ministry reiterated that other types of insulin, including N and R insulin, remain available.
