Children’s Authority Gets Further $2.66 Million In Government Funding

The Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is receiving another $2.66 million from the Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services.

Minister Vandana Mohit handed over the cheque to the Authority’s Acting CEO, Rhonda Gregoire-Roopchan, on Thursday.

Just over one million dollars will cover foster care payments for July and August, while $1.63 million will go towards statutory obligations, including PAYE and group health insurance.

The latest funding follows two interventions by the Ministry in July, totalling more than $53.9 million.

With Thursday’s disbursement, the Ministry says it has provided more than $56.5 million in financial support to the Children’s Authority.

The funding is intended to help the Authority meet its obligations and continue essential child protection and care services.
