Citizens Urged To Make Small Changes For Environmental Conservation

Citizens are encouraged to make small changes which can contribute to the conservation of our natural resources.

During the launch of the National Water and Utilities Youth Symposium at the Water and Sewerage Authority’s head office in St. Joseph on Thursday, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Public Utilities, Shivanna Sam, says the Ministry has been doing its part towards sustainable development and reminded citizens that they too have a part to play.

“When people think about conservation, they think that it has to be something big or something grand. But small changes actually also have very big impacts. So a simple thing like turning off the water when it’s not in use – while you brush your teeth, you turn off the water – putting your garbage in the bin and not disposing of it irresponsibly. Those small changes that you can make in your life and just being more conscious of the things that you do in terms of reducing your use of single-use plastics. Those little things, that change in your everyday habits can have a big impact and can contribute to the bigger picture of conservation.”
