Defence Minister Pushes ‘Stand Your Ground’ Law: You Will Have Legal Tools To Defend Your Home

The Government’s war on crime is ramping up.

Speaking at the Monday Night Report, Minister of Defence Wayne Sturge gave an update on the administration’s official 60-point crime plan.

He said consultations are almost completed on the ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws and the right to bear arms, promising citizens the legal tools to defend their homes.

He cited a recent home invasion in his constituency, highlighting the need for swift legislative action to protect families.

“At two in the morning, they must know. The bandits, the rude boy must know when 2 o’clock in the morning and he finds himself in your house that he is going to meet fire with fire. This must no longer be a situation where you are at the mercy of the criminal class.”

Minister Sturge recounted a deeply troubling incident involving a law-abiding family from his constituency, whose lives were irrevocably changed following a violent home invasion by criminals. He shared the story to underscore the urgent need for stronger security measures and justice for innocent citizens affected by rising crime.

“Raped during the home invasion, the daughter raped, and now she is a mental case. Don’t let that happen to your family. The law is going to give you the tools and the legal framework so that does not happen. We are guaranteeing your safety.”
