Ten organizations are set to receive a combined one million dollars from a partnership between Digicel Foundation and Shell Trinidad and Tobago. This to fund community projects, as EPIC celebrates a decade of impact across Trinidad and Tobago.
One million dollars is being invested in community-led projects across Trinidad and Tobago, as the EPIC programme by Digicel Foundation marks its 10th anniversary.
General Manager supply chain and Digital Excellence at Shell T&T Anesha Sadar said the grant will support organizations to develop initiatives aimed at addressing needs within their communities.
“Over the past 10 years EPIC has supported 180 projects and touched the lives of more than 157,000 people across Trinidad and Tobago. Behind those numbers though are real people, real communities, people who have identified a need, decided that something had to be done and were prepared to do the hard work required to make it happen and the Digicel Foundation is extremely proud to stand behind these people.”
Chair of the Digicel Foundation, Desha Clifford, said the impact of EPIC is reflected not only in the number of projects supported, but in the people and communities behind them.
“This year, each of the 10 organizations will receive $100,000. Collectively, that is $1 million invested not in abstract concepts but in practical solutions led by people who understand their schools and their communities because they live there and they work there. But for us, the most important measure is not the dollar value. The real measure is what the investment makes possible.”
The projects span resource-based livelihoods, technology and digitalization, and environmental sustainability.
As EPIC celebrates a decade of community investment, the foundation reaffirmed that the focus remains on empowering people to develop solutions to challenges within their own communities.
