Officers of the South Western Division have arrested one man and seized two firearms, a quantity of ammunition and narcotics during an operation conducted between 7pm and 11pm yesterday.
The 36-year-old man, of Delhi Road, Fyzabad, was arrested during a targeted, intelligence-led drug-block operation in the Penal and Fyzabad districts.
During the exercise, officers of the South Western Division Task Force and Penal Criminal Investigations Department searched several drug blocks and abandoned structures.
The man was subsequently arrested along Guapo Main Road and charged with possession of firearms for the purpose of trafficking, namely a Taurus pistol and a silver revolver; possession of ammunition, to wit, three rounds of .38 ammunition; and trafficking in cocaine, namely 14.5 grammes.
PC Ramsingh is continuing enquiries into the matter.
The operation was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Thompson and Supt. Jaggernath, and coordinated by ASP. Forbes, ASP. Corrie, ASP. Lewis and Insp. Prescott.
