Two men were killed following an accident along the Claude Noel Highway on Sunday.
Police reported that a blue car carrying two occupants was traveling east along the highway in the Bacolet area when the driver lost control and struck a tree.
Both occupants, 35 year old Shacka Rivers and Keyon Nimblett were pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident brings the total number of road fatalities in Tobago for 2026 to five.
Senior Superintendent Rodhil Kirk said police have observed an unsettling rise in road‑related incidents for the year.
While not all have been serious, more than 300 vehicular accidents have been recorded to date.
Senior Superintendent Kirk is urging motorists to exercise greater caution, obey traffic regulations, and adhere to speed limits.
He also encouraged pedestrians to remain vigilant and mindful of vehicular traffic.
