Finance Ministry Extends Landlord Surcharge Registration Deadline To June 30th

The Ministry of Finance has extended the deadline for the mandatory registration under the Landlord Business Surcharge to June 30th, 2026.

Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo said the decision came after consultations with stakeholders, noting that the extension will allow citizens additional time to organise their documents while improving the registration process.

The previous deadline was set at May 30th, 2026.

The Ministry of Finance’s Inland Revenue Division reminded the public that any person earning rental income, including landlords, property owners, and rent-collecting agents, whether in Trinidad and Tobago or abroad, is required to register.

A one-time registration fee of $2,500 applies, while quarterly surcharge rates are set at 2.5% for gross rental income of $20,000 or less and 3.5% for income exceeding that amount.
