Among the places the Minister of Rural Development and Local Government Khadijah Ameen, visited on Tuesday, was Rochard Road in Penal/Debe, an area that the Minister said continues to suffer from repeated flooding due to its geographic vulnerability.
She said current mitigation efforts include collaboration between multiple ministries, including Works and Infrastructure, Agriculture, and Local Government, to better manage flood-prone areas. Looking ahead, the Minister reiterated that community input remains essential as flood mitigation efforts expand.
Minister Ameen said her ministry will continue to work with local authorities to ensure long-term solutions for flood-prone communities like Penal/Debe.
