A local farming association is giving back to the community through a free seedling drive while also encouraging young people to get involved in agriculture.
Members of the Jerningham Farmers Association are continuing a long-standing tradition of community outreach through agriculture.
Secretary of the Jerningham Farming Association, Javed Rahaman, says his association takes time to give back to the community in the form of the free seedling drive.
Mr Rahaman noted that this initiative has grown steadily over the years and continues to have the support of both farmers and local markets.
He says even with challenges, especially around land tenure, access to support, and competition from imports, the association is seeing brighter days ahead.
He said his farmers also report that pest management remains an ongoing concern during the current growing season.
The association says it will continue its outreach efforts while working to strengthen local food production and support farmers across the country.
