The Indigenous Creative Arts Network (ICAN) shared some much needed information to people visiting the Eddie Hart Grounds on Friday.
The community outreach is part ICAN’s partnership with the United Nations and falls in line with the UN’s Global Spotlight Initiative to eliminate violence against women and girls. Information and resources were shared with members of the public at the various information tables to treat with gender based and family violence.
Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation Youth Representative, Daryan Campbell, said they’re hopeful that the Spotlight Initiative will assist in bringing awareness to gender based violence and one day bring an end to it.
Spotlight Programme Coordinator at the UN, Nikita Mohammed, said the programme would not be possible without groups like ICAN.
