Gita Mahotsav celebrations took place in Charliville on Friday

The opening of seven days of Ramleela and Krishna Leela Narrations, put on by the Shiva Ganna Organisation, saw devotees bring the stories of Shri Ram and Shri Krishna to life, at the Munroe Road Cricket Club Grounds, on Friday.
The afternoon’s proceedings began with a parade. According to Pundit Shiva Janak Maharaj, this year saw a pioneering effort, with both Leela’s being presented on the same day, he gave some insight into the celebrations.
High Commissioner of India to Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit expressed his delight to be a part of the Gita Mahotsav, as he quoted the Srimad Bhagavad Gita he said the sacred text provides answers to life’s challenges.
Young participants shared why they believe taking part in the religious event holds great significance.
As Trinidad and Tobago and India continue to work together, for the advancement of both nations, High Commissioner of India to Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit, announced that the two academic chairs of Indian studies and Hindi who were announced during Prime Minister Modi’s visit last year are set to take office later this month. He also noted that it is also in the process of deploying an academic chair at the University of the West Indies
