Today, Monday 8th June 2026, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Dr. Roodal Moonilal, the Minister in the Ministry of Energy Industries, Ernesto Kesar, together with Acting Permanent Secretaries Ms. Karinsa Tulsie and Mrs. Ava Mahabir-Dass met with representatives from ExxonMobil Trinidad and Tobago Limited and Occidental Petroleum (Oxy) at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’ Head Office, International Waterfront Complex, Port of Spain.
The key highlight of the engagement was the signing of the Production Sharing Contract for the TTUD-1 Block by the Minister, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of Trinidad and Tobago’s upstream energy sector, as announced by Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC at the opening of the Second Session of the 13th Parliament last Friday.
The executives included Mr. Paul Riley, President, ExxonMobil, Mr. Pedro Romero, Vice President of International Exploration, Oxy and Mr. Gboyega Ayeni, Business Development Manager, ExxonMobil. Also in attendance from the Ministry were Ms. Kim Ackee, Legal Officer II who served as witness to the signing, as well as Mr. Keon Dube, Senior Geophysicist and Mr. Dave Mungal, Senior Energy Analyst (Ag.).
Subsequent discussions with the representatives of ExxonMobil and Oxy built on the recent engagement with the Prime Minister in May and focused on ongoing projects, future investment opportunities, and efforts to sustain momentum in exploration and production activities, for the mutual benefit of both companies and of Trinidad and Tobago.
