Government’s Vaccine Deadline Pushed Back

Government’s vaccine deadline for public sector workers has again been pushed back, but Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi could not give a timeline as to when it would be implemented.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Mr. Al-Rawi said the legislation has not yet been approved by Cabinet.

The Attorney General said on the Prime Minister’s return from Qatar, decisions would be made in collaboration with medical experts for the way forward, following which it would be debated in the Parliament.

Government’s initial deadline for its vaccine mandate was set at January 17th, but was pushed back one month to February 17th to allow more persons from the public sector to get vaccinated, or be furloughed.
