The opening of Happy Farms Adventure Park is being hailed as a major investment for the Borough of Chaguanas, with business leaders praising the project’s potential to create jobs, boost tourism, and stimulate economic activity.
Speaking at the official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday evening, President of the Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Baldath Maharaj, described the park as a major boost for the Chaguanas business community.
He noted that the business, which is located along Perseverance Road, is expected to increase visitor traffic and generate greater economic activity for surrounding businesses.
“With the Adventure Park, we’ll have a lot of people enjoying the greenery, both the residents as well as the business community. And most important for us is that people from outside will also join in. And when they are done, of course, there is shopping in Chaguanas.”
He said the park was one of five projects proposed for Chaguanas in 2008 and the only one to come to fruition, making its completion a significant milestone for the Borough, nearly two decades later.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism and Member of Parliament for Chaguanas West, Dr Colin Neil Gosine, said the park would also help strengthen the country’s tourism product by encouraging more visitors to explore Central Trinidad.
“A family outing, a day exploring Central Trinidad or a visit with relatives from overseas can all encourage people to discover what this country has to offer. Chaguanas has an important place in that story.”
Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed said the park represents more than a new recreational attraction, describing it as an investment that can create employment opportunities and foster greater community engagement.
“Imagine the opportunities this venture may create for young people seeking employment, local entrepreneurs offering goods and services and businesses that can benefit from increased visitor activity.”
The Mayor added that ventures like Happy Farms Adventure Park demonstrate the positive impact of investment and entrepreneurship on communities.
He also welcomed further investments that can create opportunities, drive growth and enhance the Borough’s appeal as a destination for families and visitors.
